MASTER PLAN
SDRA is leading
the development of a master plan for downtown Savannah to
ensure that future development is consistent with the City's
character, desires and needs. We are pleased to report that
Phase I of this three phased project is complete. For an

PARK
SMART DOWNTOWN
The City of Savannah
and SDRA recently updated the Park Smart guide for downtown.
The brouchure has all the information you need about parking
downtown, including location, rates, and hours for parking

NEED
A CITY SERVICE? JUST DIAL 3-1-1
The
311 call center provides timely responses to citizen's non-emergency
requests for city services. Examples include missed
garbage, leaking meters, flooded streets, and graffiti.
Call 311 from any telephone within the City of Savannah.
You can also request a service or check the status of a service
request online by visiting the City's web site at http://www.savannahga.gov.
The call center hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday.
SAVANNAH-CHATHAM
ALERT NETWORK (SCAN)
SCAN
was created by the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department
to provide a network to communicate directly with businesses,
residents, and other public agencies via email about ongoing
operations or special alerts. SCAN also provides a tool
for the public to communicate directly with the Police Department.

DESTINATION
SAVANNAH RIBBON CUTTING
The
Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA) hosted a
ribbon cutting on August 1 for the grand opening of Destination
Savannah at 250 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Destination
Savannah serves as the first and only full-service concierge
center in Savannah to assist visitors with hotels, dining,
tours, and attractions, during their stay in Savannah.

A real time
web cam has been installed at the Ellis Square construction
project to allow you to monitor the progress of the
project. To use the web cam and for construction updates,

SCORE
COUNSELING OFFERED AT SDRA OFFICE
SDRA is pleased to work
with the Senior Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE)
to offer counseling sessions for business start-up or expansion.
The free counseling sessions are held on the first Thursday
of each month between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and each session
lasts about 45 minutes. For more information or to

TREE LAWN IMPROVEMENTS
AND MAINTENANCE
Property owners
and businesses are encouraged to improve and maintain
the tree lawns and wells bordering their property.
Savannah's
Tree Lawns: creating a better environment has been
created to provide property owners with the necessary
tools to improve/maintain the tree lawns and wells.

EXPRESS
CAFE AWARDED GOLDEN BROOM FOR 3RD QUARTER OF 2006
The
Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA)
is pleased to recognize Express Cafe and Bakery
with the 3rd Quarter Golden Broom Award. The ceremony
was held at Express Cafe, 39 Barnard Street, on
Thursday, August 17th. The
Golden Broom Award is sponsored by the SDRA, the
City of Savannah, Keep Savannah Beautiful, the Savannah
Morning News, the Downtown Business Association
(DBA) and the Martin Luther King/Montgomery Street
Business Association (MMBA) to recognize downtown
businesses that excel at keeping the area in front
of their business clean and litter-free.
Businesses
that are nominated for this award must be located
within Greater Downtown Savannah, which includes
any establishment located between River Street and
Park Avenue, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard
to East Broad Street. Businesses may also be located
on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Montgomery
Street Corridor from River Street to 52nd Street.
The
Golden Broom is awarded on a quarterly basis using
the following criteria:
- Overall
business appearance; a well kept tree lawn, walkway,
or store front
- A
consistently clean and litter-free establishment
- Signage
quality Graffiti
free Landscaping
and flowers

BROUGHTON
STREET TREE ANALYSIS AND PLAN
SDRA,
in partnership with the City of Savannah, completed
the Broughton Street Tree Analysis and Plan.
Through this process, a design concept
was created that recommends three species of narrow
canopy trees for the eight-block project area which
extends from Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. to Lincoln
