Welcome
Founded
in 1733 by James Edward Oglethorpe, Savannah, Georgia
has become internationally known as one of America’s
first planned cities. Today, more than 1.3 million visitors
are welcomed annually at Savannah’s Visitor Center
along Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to experience
Savannah’s rich history, magnificent architecture
and scenic beauty.
In 1992, the
Georgia General Assembly created the Savannah Development
and Renewal Authority (SDRA) to renew, revitalize, and
beautify distressed areas of Savannah. As an independent
public agency, the function of the SDRA is to work with
the local government and the private sector to strengthen
the economic climate of Greater Downtown Savannah.
